Coupled Multi-Person Multi-Display Ecosystems
Tablets, mobile phones, keyboards, screens and mice are not the highpoint of how humans should provide input and get output from a computing system. While there are many research questions in the coming age of ubiquitous computing, here we focus on the question of how to couple multiple interactive displays into a unified ecosystem. Our recently accepted PPD'10 Workshop on coupled display visual interfaces is of particular note for this particular line of research.
This project will research and develop a novel form of interactive display environment based on identified needs from work practice. Recent developments have seen the widespread proliferation of both small interactive displays and large shared display technologies. In parallel, we have seen the emergence of new classes of device which support both touch or multi touch interaction that do not rely on a mouse or keyboard for input.
