The purpose of the Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) Education Fund is to award scholarships to students attending accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing and anesthesia programs. Other non-traditional nursing programs may also be eligible. In 2010, scholarships will be awarded in memory of Captain Gussie M. Jones, AN, who died of non-battle related causes in Iraq. She was the first African-American Army Nurse to die while assigned in a theater of operations.

Eligibility Criteria
- Nursing students who plan to enter a component of the US Army and are enrolled in a program not funded by any component of the US Army.
- Nursing students who have previously served in a component of the US Army.
- Army Nurse Corps officers in any US Army component enrolled in a nursing or other eligible program not funded by the US Army.
- Army enlisted soldiers in any US Army component enrolled in a nursing program not funded by the US Army.
- Nursing students whose parent(s) and/or spouse are or have served in any component of the US Army.
General Information
For 2010, ANCA scholarships will be $3,000 per selected applicant. All applications are due by 1 April 2010 and will be reviewed by the ANCA Education Committee. Selected students will be notified within a few weeks. Scholarship funds are sent to the school to be managed for the student and not sent directly to the student. The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Therefore, there is not a military service obligation for the student receiving this scholarship.
